Longtime Penn State fans will recognize this logo, first used from 1983 to 1996. After that, the school dropped the retro “Penn State” wordmark and darkened the navy just a touch; no changes were made to the Nittany Lion’s silhouette. Around this time, the university also tried some more realistic mountain lion looks as secondary logos, but this look is a Penn State classic for all time.
