Yale Handsome Dan I Tee

Handsome Dan was adopted as Yale’s mascot in 1889, after his owner, Andrew Barbey Graves started bringing him around campus and to sporting events. It wasn’t long before Handsome Dan was being led on the field before football and baseball games. He had an intense negative reaction to crimson and tigers, and would work himself into an intense, angry barking fit when told, “Speak to Harvard.” He retired back to England to be with Graves in 1897, and unfortunately passed away a year later. Graves had him taxidermied and he lives on Yale’s campus to this day, in a trophy room in the Payne Whitney Gymnasium. We’ve commemorated this great dog with an original illustration printed on a super comfy tee.
