In 1936, the same year the Borg-Warner Trophy was first awarded, third-time champion Louis Meyer sat exhausted atop his car with, of all things, a bottle of buttermilk in hand. Since then, the winner of the 500 has sipped, chugged, or been otherwise doused in milk, a symbol of the “taste of victory.”
