In 1984, there was Black Magic afoot in South Carolina, but the only hexes were on the Gamecocks’ opponents. Led by head coach Joe Morrison, who was famous for wearing all black on game days, the 1984 team set a school record for most wins in a season, ending the magical year 10-2. This success, paired with Morrison’s all-black sideline attire and the black uniforms the team wore in the ‘80s, further inspired fans to adopt the tradition of wearing black to football games. Inside this tribute bomber jacket, you'll find a commemoration to the 1984 team, including the "Fire Ants" defense that propelled them to fame.
