The Irish dropped only one regular season game, and narrowly lost to UConn in the the Big East tournament championship. Through the NCAA tournament, however, the Irish would take the win over UConn that mattered, in their 2001 Final Four rematch. From there, the Irish defeated Purdue to win it all.
