In 1989, Michigan men's basketball head coach Bill Frieder made clear his intention to coach at Arizona State next season, resulting in his immediate firing. Assistant coach Steve Fisher took the reins for the duration of the postseason, including the 1989 NCAA tournament. From there, Michigan did, indeed, shock the world -- they powered through the entire NCAA tournament, including their overtime win against Seton Hall to win the national championship.
Products are mocked up on a size S. Graphics may appear smaller on larger sizes.
