The 1991 Washington Huskies football team sat at the peak of college football as the sport’s top dogs. In a strong year for the Pac-10, the Huskies dominated, including against ranked opponents Nebraska and Cal. Washington defeated Michigan in the 1992 Rose Bowl definitively, and the undefeated Huskies shared the national championship title with the No. 1 Miami Hurricanes. Though Washington never faced The U, Sports Illustrated magazine wrote a “what-if” story theorizing the Huskies would have won out had they played.
