This design, inspired heavily by varsity letters and classic athletic monograms, nods to Texas State's origins over a century ago. Founded as Southwest Texas State Normal School to train Texas' future teachers, the school began on a humble 11 acres on the San Marcos River. From there, the school blossomed into an influential institution culturally, socially, and politically in the state.
