The 1979-80 Cardinals men's basketball team is known and loved across the sport, and cemented their place in college hoops history with their 1980 national championship. In Denny Crum's ninth season coaching the Cards, the Cards defeated UCLA by just five points to win their first-ever national title. The team was bolstered by Darrell Griffith's 23 points in the championship game, where he earned the title of MVP.
