After sweeping the 1986 Metro Conference regular season and tournament championships, Coach Denny Crum and the Louisville men’s basketball team breezed through the bracket to set up a championship showdown with Duke in Dallas. Behind 25 points and 11 rebounds from freshman center "Never Nervous" Pervis Ellison, Louisville defeated the Blue Devils 72-69, won their seventeenth straight game, and brought home their second national title in seven seasons. Brought to you in partnership with College Vault.
