This iconic side-profile Blue Devil logo debuted in 1981, nearly 60 years after the university adopted the nickname – albeit tenuously at first, because of the name’s demonic implications. Duke’s student newspaper ran a naming contest, featuring mascots that would incorporate the color blue, which the paper editors selected in particular. Voters selected from an eclectic list of names, including Blue Eagles, Blue Titans, Royal Blazes, and (of course) Blue Devils. Products are mocked up on a size S. Graphics may appear smaller on larger sizes.
