The 79th running of the Indianapolis 500 was one longtime racing fans remember. Scott Goodyear was assessed a stop-and-go penalty after passing the pace car on a restart, and was eventually disqualified. The victory then went to Jacques Villeneuve, who overcame a two-lap penalty of his own; Villeneuve's "Indy 505" win (and eventual 1995 championship) eventually propelled him to a seat with the Williams F1 team a season later.
