The peacock is a symbol of the 2022 Auburn Men’s basketball team, who ranked #1 in the AP poll for the first time ever on January 24th. On Twitter, fans began using the peacock emoji as their mantra for the season, meaning to embrace who they are no matter what happens. It gained so much traction that even the Auburn athletics department began to use the emoji in posts.
