Just over 100 years ago, the five Ball brothers (of the Ball Corporation) purchased the Indiana Normal Institute, setting forth the chain of events that would found Ball State. The previously foreclosed Indiana Normal Institute began operating as a public teachers' college, and was officially named after the Ball family in 1922. Today, Ball State is home to more than education programs, offering students a variety of programs to choose from.
