Chattanooga’s 1997 athletic rebrand coincided with their Cinderella run through the first weekend of the NCAA men’s basketball tournament, giving their new identity an incredible start. The Mocs took the Southeast Regional by storm, defeating 3-seed Georgia and 6-seed Illinois before eventually falling to Providence. Still, history always remembers March’s underdogs, and the 1997 SoCon regular season and conference tourney champs made their mark.
