One of the most iconic stadium nicknames in all of college sports, Clemson Memorial Stadium is known as Death Valley to friends and foes alike. The Clemson University Cemetery once overlooked the field, and Lonnie McMillian, the football coach at Presbyterian College in 1948, lamented to a group of sports writers that he had "to take his team up to Clemson and play in Death Valley."
