Florida State has maintained a longstanding relationship with the Seminole Tribe of Florida, from which they derive their athletic nickname. The men's and women's basketball teams often wear turquoise Nike N7 jerseys as part of the brand's initiative to provide sports and recreational programming to Native American communities; the football team debuted their own turquoise uniforms in 2023. Florida State now celebrates Seminole Heritage games that incorporate turquoise as a nod to the Seminole Tribe of Florida and other indigenous peoples.
