Michigan State became a hockey powerhouse in the 1980’s, and the Spartans have a long history of success in the sport. The script is a staple of their hockey sweaters, including at the Cold War game in 2001. The outdoor hockey game pitted the Spartans against archrival Michigan at Spartan Stadium, and ended in a 3-3 tie.
