After an injury to Dereck Whittenburg knocked the Wolfpack down in the ACC regular season standings, NC State turned it on in the conference tournament, knocking off UNC and Virginia to secure their spot in the 1983 NCAA tournament. Close games throughout their tournament run earned them the nickname “The Cardiac Pack,” even before one of the most famous moments in college basketball history in the championship game against Houston. A last-second air ball by Whittenburg was caught and dunked by Lorenzo Charles, giving NC State a miraculous 54-52 upset victory over the heavily favored Phi Slama Jama, leaving coach Jim Valvano running around the court looking for anyone and everyone to hug.

Great graphic and high quality tee - color closer to pink

I love this shirt. The cut and the material are fantastic and feel premium. One thing I would dock a star for is that the ‘red heather’ fabric ends up being much lighter in reality than what you see in the website example. I would liken it more to chalky red or a dusty light brick red. Almost bordering on a pink. I love it regardless.
