In 1980, the UNC Tar Heels sat atop the ACC. Carolina won every game that season but one, including a statement win over rival Duke. The Tar Heels finished their season with a 16-7 win over the Texas Longhorns at the 1980 Astro-Bluebonnet Bowl.
