1974 was an incredible year for the Wolfpack. In addition to winning their 11th regular season conference basketball title, NC State brought home their first national championship. Led by Coach Norm Sloan, a former Wolfpack basketball and football player, they ran through the entire season with only one loss. David Thompson scored 21 points in the championship game win against Marquette, cementing his status as one of the greatest players in ACC and college basketball history.
