Since the men’s team first hit the court in 1939, Pepperdine basketball has had incredible success in almost every decade of its existence. Fans might think of their remarkable double-overtime effort against NC State’s “Cardiac Pack” team in 1983, or how they set the tone for WCC basketball with their 38-game conference win streak from 1991 to 1993. Pepperdine is also a major name in basketball overall, with 33 program alums drafted to the NBA, 18 of whom saw NBA minutes – including Naismith Hall of Famer Dennis Johnson.
