In 1976, Pitt was it. Led by Heisman winner Tony Dorsett — a star so big that the team retired his number while he was still playing — the Panthers ran through the 1976 regular season undefeated. An independent at that time, Pitt accepted an invitation to the Sugar Bowl to play Georgia in New Orleans. They won 27-3 to claim their ninth national championship in program history.
Products are mocked up on a size S. Graphics may appear smaller on larger sizes. Brought to you in partnership with College Vault.
