The Lambert Trophy (aka the Lambert-Meadowlands Trophy) was a coveted part of college football's past, with few criterion other than being awarded to a team in the "East." Though Pitt doesn't formally claim a 1980 national championship, they did win the Lambert Trophy that season, finishing No. 2 in the AP Poll.
