Purdue's legendary "All-American" Marching Band has been an integral part of the Indianapolis 500 for over a century. The band first performed at the 500 in 1919, and soon became the official band of the Indianapolis 500. While the band is present throughout every part of the pre-race festival, its presence is most deeply felt during their rendition of "Back Home Again in Indiana," having accompanied Jim Nabors and Jim Cornelison through the beloved song.
