This vintage Billy Bluejay cartoon was originally illustrated by Joseph P. Murphy in 1941. We tapped into the 1957 illustration, and paired him with a basketball and the state of Nebraska that the Jays call home.

Our unisex tees run true to size. If you're looking for a roomier fit, we suggest sizing up!

Great Design, Quality Issue

The design for this shirt is top-notch, bringing back the old-school Billy Bluejay with the logo colorway from the 1940s. However, I have had issues with this shirt in two different ways. The first one I received shrunk considerably in the length department after a single wash in cold water with tumble dry low as the care instructions suggested. Not only that, the graphic on the shirt washed out nearly 70%, it was barely able to be read with parts of the logo washing out entirely. I contacted Homefield and they sent a replacement. Oddly, while both shirts were XL, the second shirt was actually longer in length, something that I have also experienced with other Homefield shirts that aren't the heathered variety. The cotton/polyester blended shirts have some play in sizing and this one was no exception. Since I didn't want the shirt to shrink or wash out I once again washed in cold water, but this time hung it out to dry. No shrinking occurred this way but the logo still washed out more than I would have liked. I know it is supposed to look vintage but on this cream shirt, the colors muddle and the shirt simply appears tattered. Further, some of the stitching at the waist has come undone causing the bottom of the shirt in that area to curl inwards - again, after one wash and no dry cycle. If it could have retained its look from the initial receipt of it this would be 5 stars, but the lack of quality consistency for a $36 shirt keeps it from that.
