The first sport ever fielded at Sam Houston is also one of their most beloved: Baseball. The Bearkats began playing in 1906, and have since been a powerhouse across the sport. Prior to joining NCAA Division I, they won the NAIA national championship in 1963, among several conference championships. This design is our nod to Bearkats baseball, featuring their modern uniform script.
