By 1996, Pat Summitt had already taken the Tennessee Lady Vols to national championship heights, but their three consecutive titles put them in the highest echelon of sports legend. In the 1996 NCAA tournament, the Lady Vols won a revenge game against Geno Auriemma and UConn before winning the title handily. In 1997, the Lady Vols were lackluster in the regular season, only to surge back to win the entire championship. Finally, in 1998, the "best-ever," undefeated Lady Vols pummeled Louisiana Tech to win their third in a row.
