The 12th Man story at A&M begins with a tenacious A&M player, who stood at the ready to represent the team when called. As the story goes, in 1922, the team's roster was totally depleted in a game against Centre College. Coach Dana X. Bible looked to the crowd and saw former football player and then-current basketball player E. King Gill; Bible called to Gill and asked him to stand on the sideline as relief.
