Sick of the "Hook 'Em" hand symbol used by Texas Longhorns fans, L. Glenn and Roxie Dippel drew from Raider Red's lore for inspiration to create a symbol of Texas Tech's own. In 1971, the couple got the "Guns Up" signal going, which took the spirit squads--and soon, the entire Red Raiders community--by storm.
