The women's basketball team was the first basketball team in UMBC history to make the Division I NCAA tournament in 2007, with the men's team following suit a year later. Of course, about a decade later, UMBC men's basketball would make national history as the first 16-seed to upset a 1-seed in the NCAA men's tournament.
