Despite starting the season unranked, the DePaul basketball team would go on a tear to win 22 of 27 games going into the NCAA tournament. Led by a star freshman from Chicago named Mark Aguirre, the Blue Demons would knock off USC, Marquette, and UCLA to make it to their first NCAA Final Four since 1943. No doubt the DePaul Victory Song was sung after their big 95-91 win against the number 1 seed Bruins. “We sing your praises, praises for old DePaul U!”
