The 1958 LSU football team, led by coach Paul Dietzel and future Heisman trophy winner Billy Cannon, went undefeated and brought home the school’s first national championship. Coach Dietzel revolutionized the college game by implementing a three-platoon system that kept his players fresh. But they are perhaps even more famous for starting the LSU tradition of wearing white jerseys at home, making the Death Valley game day experience even more unique.
