In 1968, UCF (then Florida Technological University) introduced their first ever mascot- a half orange and half astronaut hybrid called the “Citronaut.” The character was intended to bring together the growing space program and orange industry dominating Florida at the time.

While the mascot was not well received at the time, he has become a beloved part of UCF history. He is featured here on our super-comfortable triblend grey tee! Brought to you in partnership with College Vault.

Citronaut UCF tee

My son is a student and was quite surprised with the Citronaut history. He loves the soft fabric and comfort of the shirt.

Citronaut Shirt

Absolutely amazing product from Homfield. Shirt is extremely comfortable and fits great. Even the packaging that the shirt came in was awesome. 10/10 would recommend to a friend.

My citrus was astronomical

It can't be overstated how special this shirt is. I wore it around my fiance's grandmother and after explaining to her why this amalgamation of scurvy-reducing fruit and astronaut was on my shirt, she sat quietly confused for minutes. No awkward conversation. Just enjoyable silence. This shirt is In-law proof. Buy it. Also incredibly soft. But if you've made it this far you already knew this.

Printing Ink Issues

I was very excited to see this Citronaut release and add it to my unique Homefield mascot tee collection. However, upon receiving it and washing it for the first time, the bold black ink of the UCF came out severely faded. Haven't worn the shirt once, but it already looks rough. Not an issue I've encountered with my other Homefield purchases.
