This vintage West Virginia script was a fixture on basketball media guides in the 1990s. The 1998 team, led by Coach Gale Catlett in his 20th year on the sidelines, was the most successful team of the decade for WVU. After defeating Temple in the first round of the NCAA tournament, senior guard Jarrod West banked in a three pointer from the top of the key as time expired to beat heavily-favored Cincinnati and send the Mountaineers to their first Sweet Sixteen since 1963.
