While many associate the rally towel concept with other college or pro sports teams, Western Kentucky Hilltoppers will tell you they came up with the concept, modeled after with men's basketball coach E.A. Diddle and the Red Towel. Diddle carried a red towel with him courtside, occasionally waving it to signal to his players. WKU's faithful soon adapted Diddle's quirk into a full-blown athletic tradition that's stood the test of time.
