One of the most iconic postgame traditions in college football, the Fifth Quarter originated around 1977, when the Badger band went above and beyond the average postgame show, adding in interactive arrangements to include the student section. As the band members, students, and thousands of fans joined in on the fun, the postgame festivities grew in popularity and duration, hence the nickname βthe Fifth Quarter.β
