The Notre Dame monogram—the famous interlocking N and D—dates back to 1899. Since then, there have been many variations of the ND in use on uniforms and printed materials. The one featured on this shirt was utilized on the cover of a 1943 Michigan vs Notre Dame football program. Led by coach Frank Leahy, the Fighting Irish finished 9-1 that year and won their fourth national championship.
