The 1907 Alabama-Auburn football game was defined by Alabama's heroic effort to hold the heavily favored Tigers to a 6-6 tie. Birmingham Age-Herald sports editor Hugh Roberts wrote how the Alabama team looked like a tidal wave covered in red mud on the field, and coined the phrase “Crimson Tide” to describe what he saw. Since then, the Tide have certainly rolled, as one of the most decorated powerhouses in all of college football.  Brought to you in partnership with College Vault.
